Altar
This piece sits on the floor and has extended space for objects. Some people like to have images of their teachers. Some get inspiration from figurative sculptures. Some people use the space for natural objects, rocks, feathers and such. Incense and candles, essential oils, origami; its just what ever you want. I gave the altar space to persuade that kind of interaction. It has an angled panel of metal that has been cut (using plasma cutter) in the way of the theory. Follow the lines, calm your mind. To accommodate shipping, this panel needs assembly. Its just two screws. The legs are made of welded square tube steel and there is a wooden top. Here its shown in a maple veneer plywood, but with special request it can also be thicker wood or your choice for instance; solid maple, walnut, reclaimed, oak. It can also be stone (slate, marble, granite). Please note that those last choices will raise the price and the shipping costs, but lets talk. The light is battery operated LED which means you are not tethered to a cord that needs a plug. There is a tiny sand-bag that supports the light so you can aim it to your preference. Personally, I like the altar near a wall and I bounce the light off the wall which gives an even glow and illuminates the negative spaces of the design softly. Earlier, I used to like it directly on the back of the panel, which created little flairs. The flairs helped me to immerse myself more in the design. 28” tall assembled x 26” wide x 10”deep $325.00 includes shipping |

Grip
Some are shiny clean metal, some with a rusty patina surface. Thin enough to be on a window sill. Small enough to fit in your hands for an intimate experience. What starts off looking like a standard geometric form, subtly changes with its nuance. Some angled junctures, some curved. Punctuated with a weld joint. 5.5-6” tall x 3” wide by 1” deep $45.00 includes shipping Double Bulb |
Double-bulb is made of 1/8 thick metal with a very craggy edge. The form is simple, the texture is complex. There are some “kick-out” places that I create during fabrication. I make them so there is a place to pause. Sometimes it's a starting/ending spot. Sometimes a counting spot. A reminder to slow down. A recognition of the circumnavigation.
The ‘imperfection’ is accentuated by the shape being welded in the slightly off kilter manor which gives it buoyancy and spirit. This could pass as a lyrical sculpture and not even a meditation device at all. This is an example of line as line. What, you say? Aside from “Grip” the metal pieces use the reverse method of using light as line. This means that the metal is cut away, thus producing a negative space for light to come through and create a line of light. “Double-bulb” is line itself. 11” tall x 5” wide x 2 1/2 deep, sort of All of them are a bit different This style is also rugged and sometimes sharp. Not a good choice to be around children. $85.00 includes shipping |
